Child Abuse

The Child and Family Services Act imposes  a positive statutory duty on every one to report child
abuse to the Children’s Aid Society.

The Society is often perceived as ‘someone’ who parents want on their side. Parents should
realize that the Society can usually see through a “trumped up” allegation, designed to further a
matrimonial case. And if a Society report finds that there was in fact no child abuse, the person
making the allegation may lose credibility to the detriment of  their family law case.

Please note: If you are involved  in a matrimonial dispute, we
strongly recommend that you retain a lawyer to represent
you at the first  possible opportunity;
This site and this note are designed only to acquaint you with a
few (and only a few) of the issues that may affect you.
It is not intended as legal advice on any specific case.
You are well advised to retain the services of an
experienced lawyer as soon as possible.
